Commissioned by the Government Architect, Carter Williamson has developed a suite of adaptable, functional designs for the New South Wales’ Housing Pattern Book.

Our design stands as a modular trio of Victorian inspired terrace homes, now featuring abundant light and an enhanced connection to the outdoors.

With internal courtyards, balconies, skylights and operable blinds, the homes are designed for contemporary, enjoyable living.

‘We want new homes to be built faster, but the Pattern Book will mean those homes are good quality, sustainable and cost-effective’ – Paul Scully, NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces.

Achieving a 7-Star Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) rating for thermal performance, water and energy usage; sustainable design has been a key consideration during throughout the terraces development.

Featuring passive design techniques that welcome light and warmth, the compact design also provides opportunities for protection from direct sunlight depending on orientation, efficiently reducing both carbon and energy footprints.

The Pattern Book designs are intrinsically modular; individuals can select various elements and design elements to build their dream home at a greatly reduced cost.

Layout options can include additional bathrooms, bedrooms, a potential study area, and various carparking arrangements, all dependent on the occupant’s lifestyle.

“This is a practical step to make the housing system fairer — and make sure NSW remains a place where the next generation can afford to live and thrive.” – Chris Minns, Premier of New South Wales.
